Born in Houlton, December 28, 1956, she was the daughter of Robert K. and Barbara G. York Chapman. Educated in Houlton schools, she was a 1975 graduate of Houlton High School. She later attended Eastern Maine Technical College, graduating in 1978 with an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.

returned to PBMC where she worked two years in the Emergency Department and loved it. When the Infection Control Department needed a Nurse Microbiologist, she found her calling and ran that department until 2014
when she began her employment at Maine Medical Center in Portland as an Infection Preventionist Nurse. There she earned her professional certification as an Infection Control/Prevention Nurse. She took medical
retirement in 2020.

From an early age, Debra enjoyed baton twirling and in pursuit of that participated in many events in the United States and Canada. She loved skiing, motorcycling, camping and shopping. She enjoyed returning to Houlton for family events and holiday gatherings particularly The 4th of July and Thanksgiving.
