“Morse had a good aggressive start against us tonight,” said Camden Hills head coach Wade Ward. “We started flat tonight; it took our girls some time to get their stick where they wanted them. The field feels big and we found ourselves not controlling the possession well enough not to be running back and fourth; together with Morse coming at the girls with some elevated energy it took our girls the first part of the first half to gather and settle in.”

All in all, the Windjammers were able to find its rhythm in the second half.

“Our girls have been doing a good job of taking in corrections at breaks and half time and implementing them as they get back on the field,” said Ward.

Earlier in the season, the Windjammers collected victories over Erskine Academy (16-0), Morse (20-8) and Bangor (13-3).

Camden Hills squares off at home Thursday, May 13 against Lincoln Academy at 4 p.m. for its next contest.

Junior Varsity

Following the completion of the varsity contest, the junior varsity Windjammers found itself down 9-3 at the conclusion of its contest.

The contest was an up-tempo seven-on-seven match with a pair of 20 minute running halves that left the Camden Hills coaching staff in awe of the junior varsity squad’s improvement as the season treks on.

“The majority of the jv group had never played before and to see them control the ball in their stick while being pressured and use their techniques to get there hands free and get a pass off to a moving teammate is pretty great,” said Ward. “JV had some good opportunities and shots taken on goal.”

The junior varsity Windjammers will challenge Oceanside at home Thursday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m.
