Camden Hills Girls Soccer teams soar to victory over Messalonskee, head to quarterfinals
Away at Messalonskee High School this Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Windjammer girls soccer team soared through to a victory of 5-0.
It was a rough battle to halftime with the score still stuck at 0-0, but the Jammers morale never wavered.
The Jammer girls opened up the second half with a goal from Sophomore #10, Molly Williams, and the goals did not stop after that.
The Windjammers ended the night with two much needed goals from Molly Williams, and a shot out wide from Izzy Debrosky, senior #12. Yet the most notable goals of the night, from two of the Jammers starting defenders, Lucy Ward, junior #5, and Maya Stone, senior #17.
Lucy Ward with a goal off of a set play corner kick, and Maya Stone with a long distance shot right over the goalies head. Both not hesitating to add to the scorebook, despite their usual positions on the field.
Ollie Martens, senior #11, and Eliza Gallant, freshman #00, both had terrific shut outs for this last regular season game.
The Varsity Windjammers Girls soccer team, second in the league, although with the best record of 13-1-0, will be playing their quarterfinal Tuesday, Oct. 28, time and place still to be determined.
The JV Windjammers fought for a game of 6-0 as their last season game. Rowan Witbeck, freshman #9, scored a hard-won goal late in the first half.
The second half held many goals for the Jammers including Cate Middleton, freshman #26 with two outside shots, perfectly placed. Along with Nathalie Nelson, freshman #16, Abi Botley, junior #36, and a second goal from freshman Rowan Witbeck.
The JV Jammers season has come to an end, but what a way to show exactly how talented a team they are with a 6-0 win. Senior Danielle Botley, #37, and Ollie Martens #11, will be truly missed by the Jammers, both influential players on the field.
