Camden Hills girls soccer cracks top 20 in new national rankings
ROCKPORT — In the midst of a quest for a fourth consecutive state championship, the Camden Hills girls soccer has cracked the top 20 on a list of the nation’s best high school girls soccer teams.
In the seventh edition of the USA TODAY Super 25 girls soccer rankings, the Windjammers moved up in the rankings by earning recognition as the 20th best team in the nation for games played through Oct. 6.
Through Oct. 6, the Windjammers possessed a 9-0 record.
Previously, the Windjammers were ranked 22nd in the nation in the sixth edition of the poll released Oct. 1 for games through Sept. 29.
Interestingly, the Windjammers were the only team from Maine ranked.
Other teams on the list hailed from New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Indiana, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Oregon, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Washington and Kentucky.
The Super 25 rankings are compiled by United Soccer Coaches in coordination with USA TODAY High School Sports based on results from the current season, quality of players and strength of schedule.
The next iteration of the rankings will be released Tuesday, Oct. 15.
