ROCKPORT — The Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team collected a 5-1 season opening victory over Messalonskee on Friday, Aug. 31 in Rockport.

"It's been a long pre-season this year and the boys were excited to get out on the pitch and show everyone how hard they have been working,” said Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley. “It's always nice to start the new season on the right foot and we did it in style today with some very nice goals and good all around team defense. It was a total team effort from front to back against a Messalonskee team that will surely win their share of games this season.  We will enjoy our good start over the weekend and then get ready for a stiff challenge when we head to Bangor on Tuesday."

Netting goals for the Windjammers was Quinn Brown (three), Michael Blackwell and Havana Lyman.

Scoring the lone goal for Messalonskee was Hunter Smith.

Recording Windjammer assists were Bryce Tyler, Hugh Costigan and Sam Brownawell.

Camden Hills had 18 shots compared to Messalonskee’s eight.

Matt Kremins had five saves in the net for Camden Hills, while Carter Lambert had four for Messalonskee.
