Bradley D. Wiley, obituary
TENANTS HARBOR — Bradley D. Wiley, 91, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Pen Bay Medical Center. Born in St. George, January 2, 1935, he was the youngest son of Rodney and Anna Watts Wiley.
Brad was educated locally and graduated from St. George High School. When his country called, he answered, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. Returning home after his service, he joined his brothers in an excavation business, setting the tone for a life defined by hard work and quiet determination.
Brad spent much of his career in the maintenance department at Marine Colloids, yet he was never a man content to be idle. Throughout his working years he took on side jobs with the same steady energy he brought to everything, cutting pulpwood, picking up extra shifts, and squeezing more hours out of a day than most men. No matter how full his schedule, there was always another task worth doing.
The water was Brad’s great love. He worked as a part-time lobsterman and clam digger, and there was nowhere he was more at home than out on the coast of Maine. He took genuine pleasure in hauling traps and enjoyed eating fresh lobster and steamed clams whenever the opportunity arose.
A member of the Odd Fellows lodge in Tenants Harbor, Brad was a familiar and well-liked figure in his community. He had a friendly word for everyone he met and seemed to know just about everyone. People remembered him for his steadiness, his work ethic, and his easy, genuine warmth.
He is survived by his nephew, Dale Wiley and his wife Marianne, and other family members and special friends throughout the United States.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 2 p.m., at Sea Side Cemetery in Tenants Harbor.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.
