SEARSPORT — Join Carver Memorial Library on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the Carver Memorial Library 2nd Annual Book It 5K, a fun and family-friendly event that is part of Searsport's Fling into Fall celebration. Proceeds from the 5K will go directly to support the Carver Memorial Library.

The course will start at the library and takes participants through historic downtown Searsport, according to Carver Memorial, in a news release.

 

"This relatively flat and fast course is perfect for seasoned runners as well as those looking for a beautiful morning walk," said the Library. Strollers are more than welcome."

Medals will be awarded to overall winners and age group winners with timing professionally done by 5K Sports Race Management.

This isn't only a road race, it's also a party. Lawn games, snacks, drinks, and crafts will be available for spectators and runners at the library as well.

 

"The course takes runners past the library twice, so there are plenty of opportunities to cheer," said the news release.

Race day registration and bib pickup starts at the Carver Memorial Library, 12 Union St., Searsport, at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 26. Race starts promptly at 8 a.m.

 

A free half mile kids' fun run will start at 7:30 a.m.
