Beverley (Higgins) Ingraham, obituary
KNOX — Beverley Marie (Higgins) Ingraham, 97, of Knox, was born September 3, 1929, and died September 8, 2026. She was the daughter of Maurice and Nola (Berry) Higgins, of East Thorndike.
Beverley married John W. Ingraham Jr. of Knox in 1946 and had 68 years with John. John passed away in 2014. Beverley has five children: son Michael and his wife Jackie; son George and his wife Holly; son Rodney and his wife Debra; daughter, Elaine; son Greg and his wife Shirley. She had 12 grandchildren who were the light of her life: Christopher (predeceased), Angie, Shane, Brett, Cami, Melissa, Sarah, Nicole, Amanda, Carrie, Johnny and Isaac. She had 23 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Beverley’s life was full and had many accomplishments. She started her family and farming in 1946, living in an apartment in the ole chicken house. John and Beverley built their home in 1955, which she continued to live in for 76 years. Beverley was the bookkeeper for Ingraham Equipment. She was a lifetime member of the State and Dirigo Grange in Freedom; was presented the Green Pastures Award in 2012 from the University of Maine; and was honored with the Boston Post Cane for Knox in 2026.
In later years, her and John enjoyed traveling in their old car with the auto club and snowmobiling with their friends. They ended up buying a home in Florida and spent winters there. John liked to party and even though Bev wasn’t so crazy about the parties she sure liked to dance so they were well known for having many celebrations and parties at their home in Florida. It was a standing joke, when Bev had had enough of the party she used to start shutting the lights off and say, “The party’s over folks.”
Beverly did exactly like she wanted and passed away at home at the age of 97. The lights are out now and the party is over.
