Artwalk Waldoboro showcases local art, summer scenes, July 24

Friday, July 24, 2026 - 04:00 pm to 07:00 pmDowntown Waldoboro will celebrate local and regional art, music, and community during Artwalk Waldoboro on Friday, July 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitors are invited to explore galleries, businesses, and public spaces while strolling through Waldoboro's historic village.
Featured local artists include photographer Linda Mahoney at Perch Café & Bakery, photographer Vincente Spadafora at Holmes + Hudson Collective, painters Audrey Bechler at Waldoboro Public Library and Anne Heywood at her namesake gallery, chairmaker Andy Glenn at Gravedigger's Daughter, painter and sculptor Alanna Hernandez at The Waldoboro Inn & Ida's Wine Bar, and anime-inspired artist McKenna Fitzpatrick at Dayboat Café.
The Waldoboro Public Library honors longtime former Waldoboro resident Audrey Bechler, who celebrated her 90th birthday in March, with a special exhibition of her artwork while she returns to town for the summer.
Perch Café & Bakery features photographs by Linda Mahoney, whose career spans more than four decades in view camera photography and silver gelatin printing. Mahoney holds an MFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and has studied with renowned photographers including Olive Pierce, Paul Caponigro, William Clift, and Minor White.
At Holmes + Hudson Collective, Midcoast photographer Vincente Spadafora presents work exploring impermanence through intuitive, observational photography. His images examine connections between the natural and built environments, drawing on recurring motifs such as plants, seagulls, traffic cones, color, and ritual.
The Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St., presents "Staycation or Vacation: Painting Inspirations, Near and Away", a collection of landscapes featuring both distant destinations and familiar Maine scenes, painted by American Realist Anne Heywood.
At The Waldo Theatre's Bill and Joan Alfond Gallery, "Unease", an exhibition by Natasha Mayers, remains on view through Sept. 9. The exhibition explores themes including war, immigration, economic inequality, and climate change, reflecting Mayers' ongoing examination of corporate, financial, and military power in American life.
Gravedigger's Daughter, 882 Main St., celebrates its fifth anniversary. The gallery features "Summer Sun", an exhibition of direct color positives by Brian Unwin through Aug. 16, alongside handcrafted greenwood furniture by chairmaker Andy Glenn.
Stillpoint Chiropractic showcases two Waldoboro artists: Jacklyn Coyne Kovach, whose expressive paintings draw inspiration from local architecture, nature, and the emotional lives of people and animals, and Rex Burgamy, exhibiting wood turnings, carvings, and handcrafted books.
Visitors to Habitat Gardens, 856 Main St., can enjoy ceramic Fish in the Garden sculptures by Maine artist Tyson M. Weiss, live music by Frankie Douglas and friends, native plants from Honey Petal Plants, and are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic to enjoy the gardens.
Dayboat Café, 17 Friendship Road, will offer its full menu during extended Artwalk hours while featuring anime-inspired artwork by McKenna Fitzpatrick.
The Waldoboro Inn & Ida's Wine Bar will remain open from 5 to 9 p.m. with artwork by Midcoast Maine painter and sculptor Alanna Hernandez, whose work has been exhibited internationally and featured in the New York Times and L'Officiel Mexico.
"Artwalk Waldoboro builds connections among artists, entrepreneurs, merchants, cultural organizations, and community members while supporting Waldoboro's cultural vitality and local economy," said Gravedigger's Daughter, in a news release.
Artwalk Waldoboro takes place on the fourth Friday of each month from May through August. The final Artwalk of the 2026 season will be held on Friday, Aug. 28.
