Arthur R. Fish, Sr., obituary
ROCKLAND — Arthur R. Fish, Sr., 83, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 2, 2025. Born in Rockland, January 6, 1942, he was the son of Arthur Lewis and Christina Walker Bald Fish.
Arthur’s career spanned forty years with FMC corporation, until he retired from there as facilities engineer. After retirement, he stayed busy, working in the family paving business, helping Donny Blackman at Best Rates Towing and later settled at Pic-Qwik with Bill Bird. His love of people and ability to make friends easily made him well suited for the job.
He had a deep love of community, and when he saw a need, would quietly go about meeting it. He didn’t want any recognition or accolades, he simply wanted to help, and he did, often. He was a life member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks where he held many offices including Exalted Ruler twice, and participated in countless projects and programs. He was also a 50-year member of the Rockland Aurora Lodge of Masons, Sons of the American Legion, Evening Star Grange, Past President of the Finish Congregational Church, Finn-Am Society of MidCoast Maine, Finnish Heritage House of South Thomaston and the International Independent Showmen’s Association out of Gibsonton, Florida.
Family was Arthur’s number one priority in life. He was always present for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making it to as many school events, dance recitals and sporting events as possible. He always showed up whenever they needed him. Arthur's steadfast love and commitment was the cornerstone of his family, and he was instrumental in developing and instilling the work ethic, love of family and faith in God that many of them have today.
Arthurs passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved him.
Arthur leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Kirsti Annikki Wilson Fish; his daughters, Lori Ann Tinker, Lisa Johnston and her husband Scott, Christina Fish; his son, Arthur Robert Fish, Jr. and his wife Jill; as well as Jasmine Gosslin (Chris), Greta Campbell (Jeff), Catherine Johnston, Erica Cyr (David), Trevor Davis (Kayla), Tyler Fish (Cinda), Taylor Fish, Jayla Robinson, and Megan Sykes.
He was predeceased by his first wife of forty years, Sharon Grant Fish; a grandson, Austin Podziewski; his sisters, Dorothy Porter, Margaret Tilley; and brothers, Stanely, Erland, Russel and Gordon ‘Donnie’ Fish. He will be sadly missed.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 2 p.m, at the Rockland Lodge of Elks, 210 Rankin Street, Rockland. He will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
