Pickup-motorcycle collision in Camden sends one to Maine Medical Center via LifeFlight
CAMDEN — On June 2, just before 9 a.m., the driver of a 2010 Ford pickup truck attempting to cross Route 1 from Conway Road over to Camden Street failed to see a motorcyclist to his right, traveling northbound on Route 1. The two collided, with the impact severe enough to send the motorcyclist onto the pavement with injuries, and demolish his bike.
According to Camden police, James Sady, 73, of Lincolnville, was eastbound, crossing Route 1 where Camden Street, John Street and Conway Road all intersect with Route 1, just north of the traffic light by Elm Street Shopping Plaza.
He apparently did not see Adam Herbert, 22, of Rockport, traveling north along Route 1 toward him. Herbert crashed head-on into the passenger front end of the truck.
Camden Fire and Rescue, North East Mobile Health Services and Camden Police responded, and Herbert was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center via ambulance.
While he was alert and talking at the crash site, he suffered internal injuries and was subsequently transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medican Center in Portland. Herbert was wearing a helment, first responders said.
Police said June 3 that Herbert was expected to recover from his injuries, but remained at Maine Medical Center.
Sady was uninjured and able to drive his vehicle.
The crash remained under investigation, as of June 3.
