Anna Silverman, obituary
WARREN — Anna Silverman, 64, passed away peacefully, following a courageously fought battle with cancer. A fighter to the very end, Anna's bright spirit kept her going even on the hardest days.
Born March 5, 1961 in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of Ronald and Helvi Vaisanen Silverman. Growing up in New York, she was a 1979 graduate of Mepham High School in Bellmore, New York.
Anna had a wild side but was always willing and wanting to take care of others. She devoted herself to caring for many children throughout her life, although she didn't have any of her own. For the past 12 years or so, she lived with her mother, and they took care of each other with mutual love and dedication.
A true free spirit, Anna enjoyed motorcycles and owned several over the years, finding joy in the open road and the wind in her hair. She treasured time spent with friends, creating lasting memories and meaningful connections wherever she went.
There was nothing Anna couldn't and wouldn't tackle. She did roofing, fixed motors, repaired lawn mowers, and could handle anything mechanical that came her way. Her remarkable ability to solve problems and repair what others couldn't earned her the beloved nickname "Master of Disaster" – because she could fix any disaster that came her way. Whether it was a broken engine, a leaky roof, or any challenge life threw at her, Anna approached each situation with determination, skill, and her characteristic can-do attitude.
Anna's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her generosity, her fierce independence, and her unwavering willingness to help others. She will be remembered not only for adventurous spirit, but for her enormous heart and the love she shared with everyone around her.
Predeceased by her father, Ronald Silverman in 2014; and a sister, Susan Trepanowski in 2016; Anna is survived by her mother, Helvi Silverman of Warren; her brothers, John Robert Silverman and his wife Joan O’Brien of North Babylon, New York, Ed Silverman and his wife Mari Bello of North Bellmore, New York, Al Silverman of Bellmore, New York; her nieces and nephews, Allan, Eric, Kevin, Liam, Emily, Bobby, Peter and Tanya; as well as a great-niece, Lianna; and a great-nephew, Theodore.
Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, July 28, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 2:00 p.m, at the Finnish Congregational Church, Rt. 131, South Thomaston, Maine. She will be laid to rest at Leonard Cemetery, Warren.
