Public invited to AARP Fraud Watch presentation at United Methodist Church, in Union
The Peoples United Methodist Church of Union, in conjunction with AARP, invites the public to a presentation by AARP's Fraud Watch Network January 10.
AARP created the Fraud Watch Network to empower consumers to spot and avoid scams, and to provide support and guidance to victims and their families when fraud happens.
The focus will be on:
•Fraud Trends – Understanding how much fraud is out there and what it looks like.
•Changing the Narrative – How we talk about fraud matters – words matter. How we talk to victims matters.
•Prevention – Knowing and practicing prevention strategies to avoid becoming a target.
•Resources – How to access and share up-to-date tools and resources about fraud identification and prevention, and where to go if you or someone you love has become a victim.
This presentation is free and open to all. It will take place on Saturday, January 10, at 10 a.m; snow date is Saturday, January 17.
RSVP at 207-785-4114 and leave a message. Walk-ins welcomed as well as attending via zoom. Go to pumcunion.org and then to the church's Facebook page and a link to zoom will be posted.
The Peoples United Methodist Church of Union is at 21 Depot Street (Rt. 235) in Union just behind the Union Post Office. Entrance to the presentation hall will be off the rear parking lot.
The Peoples United Methodist Church of Union gathers for Sunday Service at 10:45 a.m. with Reverend Aiden Seo presiding. The church's purpose is to share God’s love as disciples of Jesus Christ and to serve and welcome all in his name.
