Overnight power outage attributed to CMP Rockland equipment issue
KNOX COUNTY — The sudden loss of electricity experienced across Knox County over the early morning hours has been attributed to transmission line equipment, according to Dustin Wlodkowski, a spokesperson for Central Maine Power.
The outage occurred suddenly, leaving many residents in the dark, without heat, as temperatures fell into the teens, and then the single digits.
All power has been subsequently restored across Knox County.
“This outage was caused by a transmission line equipment issue in Rockland just before 3 a.m., following a week of stormy weather," said Wlodkowski.
"All affected customers were restored within two hours of this incident occurring," he said, Dec. 26. "With clearer weather today, we are sending a helicopter to inspect our transmission system across Maine, including the area affected by this outage. Our teams will be looking for hazard trees that could fall onto lines, equipment damaged or worn out by weather and other issues that we can proactively address.”
