Ring in the new year at Beech Hill Preserve open house
"On New Year’s Day, come up the hill to enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, good company, and a sparkling fire in the historic stone hut, the Beech Nut," said Coastal Mountains Land Trust, in a news release.
Festivities will take place January 1, 2026, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
"Feel free to bring any leftover holiday cookies," said CMLT.
The summit of Beech Hill is a .6 mile hike up a wide farm road with 200 feet of elevation gain.
"Hikers will be rewarded at the top with panoramic views of Penobscot Bay and a warm welcome in the Beech Nut," said the release.
This event is free and open to everyone. No registration is needed. Warm and wind proof layers are recommended with sturdy hiking footwear and boot grips, to help with hiking stability.
Directions: Parking is available at 316 Beech Hill Road in Rockport. Additional parking is available in the neighboring field, designated by parking signs.
Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 13,500 acres, offering over 55 miles of trails for public recreation.
