On Sunday, January 28, 2018, more than 650 people took to the streets of Rockland, Maine to enjoy over 50 varieties of pie in the 14th Annual Pies on Parade Tour.  The “Pie Tour” is the largest fundraising event for the Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) Food Pantry and Fuel Assistance Program.

Throughout the weekend, related events took place including a “Pie-ton” Place Scavenger/Trivia Contest sponsored by a number of Downtown Camden business members, plus a Pie and Wine Tasting at the Wine Seller and a Silent Auction at Trackside Restaurant.  Additionally, throughout the winter season, oil can collection jars were found throughout Rockland to raise money for the AIO Food Pantry’s Fuel Assistance Program.  Maritime Energy has pledged to match up to $2000 in funds collected.

The organizers, Historic Inns of Rockland, are happy with the event and reasonably sure that they will reach their $25,000 fundraising goal for the event.  The actual amount raised is still being tallied and will be announced on February 5  at Granite Inn (time TBA) when the check will be delivered.  Media will be informed on timing for photo op.

Most importantly, planning for the 15th Annual Pies on Parade event, to be held January 27, 2019, is already underway.  Tickets may be ordered at www.PiesonParade.com. Each year tickets sell out, so ordering early is always a good idea.
