Raymond Johnson, obituary
TENANTS HARBOR — Raymond Charles Johnson, 88, died Aug. 28, 2015. Born in Rocky Hill, Conn., on Jan. 24, 1927, he was the son of Grover and Jennie Johnson.
Raymond graduated from Wethersfield High School in Connecticut. He served as a Navy corpsman in World War II. After leaving the service, he went to work for Southern New England Telephone Co., in the installation office in Hartford and Manchester, Conn., where he worked for 31 years.
In 1932, at age 5, Raymond began spending summers in Maine. Falling in love with Maine, he bought land in 1958 in Tenants Harbor, where he and his wife, Josie, would come to live full time in 1976.
Ray worked four years at the Maine State Prison. After leaving the prison, he became caretaker for the Parson Estate for 18 years.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years.
