Crime novelist Gerry Boyle reads in Monroe, May 8
MONROE — Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m., The Monroe Community Library invites the public to an author event with acclaimed Maine mystery writer Gerry Boyle.
Gerry Boyle is the author of 17 crime novels, including the acclaimed Jack McMorrow mystery series. His latest McMorrow novel is Hard Line. Previous McMorrow novels, including Random Act and Straw Man, were awarded the Maine Literary Award for crime fiction.
Boyle's fiction is set in Maine, often in rural parts of the state, including deep in the heart of western Waldo County, where his reporter protagonist searches for stories and frequently finds trouble. The author lives in central Maine in a village on a lake. In addition to writing crime fiction, he has been a news paper reporter and columnist, and for many years was editor of the Colby Magazine, published by Colby College, his alma mater. Boyle is also the author of the Brandon Blake mystery series, featuring a rookie Portland police officer. His novels have been published in a half-dozen languages.
"Please join us for a chance to hear from the author and learn how he sources and researches material for his crime stories, set in the places we call home," said MCL, in a news release.
The event will take place at the Monroe Community Library, 8 Swan Lake Ave., Monroe, ME 04951, and is free and open to all. Free parking is available on site and in the lot across from the Library.
