Allison Morris, obituary
TENANTS HARBOR — Allison J. “Squee” Morris, 56, died peacefully Aug. 1, 2015, at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Born in Vinalhaven on May 9, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Doris Duff and Victor Ames of Thomaston. Squee spent the first five years of her life on Vinalhaven before moving to Tenants Harbor, where she grew up. She spent summers on the island, staying with her grandmother, Claudine Dyer. Her family said as long as her grandmother was on the island, her heart was there too. She attended local schools and was a 1977 graduate of Georges Valley High School.
Following high school Squee went to work for New England Telephone Company. During the summer months she also cooked at the Cod End Fish Market.
On May 20, 1979, Squee married her best friend, Robert Morris, in Tenants Harbor. Together they have made this their home ever since.
Drawn by her love of cooking, Squee took a job at the St. George Elementary School as a cook. Her family said she loved this job, and enjoyed the children she had the pleasure of interacting with every day. Whether for work or pleasure, Squee was an excellent cook. She often used her time and talents to benefit others, cooking for benefit suppers, Trekkers dinners and was always organizing family gatherings and get-togethers.
One of her favorite places to spend time was the family campsite at Sennebec Lake. She made countless life-long friends there. Spending time with her grandchildren was always her number one priority.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her mother and stepfather; Squee is survived by her father, Victor Ames of Thomaston; her husband, Robert Morris of Tenants Harbor; her son, Corey Morris and his companion, Kristen Hodgdon, all of Tenants Harbor; her sisters, Julie Miller and her husband, Tad, and Lorraine Walker and her husband, Ronald, all of Tenants Harbor; her aunts and uncles, Shirley Guildford and her husband, Van, of Vinalhaven, Alvah Ames of Rockland and Jackie Dyer; her nieces and nephews, Maria Baum and her husband, Larry, Mallary Tripp and her husband, John, all of Spruce Head, Blake Miller of Bangor, Jamie Keizer, Lyle Morris and Darcy Morris, all of Tenants Harbor; a brother-in-law, Philip Morris and his wife, June, of Tenants Harbor; a sister-in-law, Donna Johnson and her husband, Elmer, and their five children of Tenants Harbor; as well as two special granddaughters, Breannah and Bayleigh Morris; and a large, loving extended family along with too many friends to count.
