Robert Sampson, obituary
MORRILL — Robert Edward Sampson, 76, of Morrill, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2015, after a long illness. He was the son of William and Helen (Moulton) Sampson of Belfast.
He graduated from Crosby High School, Class of 1957, and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1958 serving his country for 22 years. After retirement, he worked for the Maine State Correctional System for 25 years.
At a very young age he began working at three part-time jobs while attending high school. He loved his five daughters and his grandchildren dearly, supporting them in all their plans and counseling them on how to live their lives by following after the Lord. He helped build his log home in which he enjoyed many happy hours with family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed building model airplanes and playing cards with his friends. He loved Sudoku puzzles and reading the Bible.
Surviving him are his beloved wife of 55 years, Nancy Sampson of Morrill; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Bonita and Blaine Hardy and Bert and Jane Hamilton of Belfast, Susan and Gary Stevenson of Novarre, Fla., Cheryl Sampson of Lewiston, and Pamela and Mark Bouchard of Cameron, N.C.; seven grandchildren and four step-grandchildren as well as two great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bill Butler of Vermont; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, William and Rebecca Vachon of Morrill; her sister-in-law, Irene Blood of Morrill; and many nephews and nieces.
Robert was predeceased by his parents; one half-sister, Betty; two half-brothers, Ralph and George Boardman; and one brother-in-law, David Blood.
A private burial will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
