Penobscot Bay Ringers concert weekend to benefit two local organizations
Penobscot Bay Ringers, Midcoast Maine's community handbell choir, will present a spring concert weekend on Saturday, May 31, at 4 p.m., in Waldoboro, and on Sunday, June 1, at 4 p.m., in Camden.
Both concerts are free and open to the public, featuring a variety of familiar hymns, patriot tunes, popular songs, as well as some pieces composed specifically for handbells. In addition to music presented by the full, five-octave choir, there will be several ensemble performances by members of Penobscot Bay Ringers. The group will be joined by vocalist Emily Emmott on one of the pieces.
The concerts are identical in repertoire and each one hour in length. Free-will donations will be collected for the designated charitable organizations named below.
On Saturday, May 31, at 4 p.m., the group will perform at the Safe Harbor Community Chapel, 50 Mill Street, Waldoboro. Free will offering will benefit the Waldoborough Historical Society capital campaign for museum expansion to include more room for exhibits, restroom facilities and a storage area at their 1164 Main Street headquarters.
On Sunday, June 1, at 4 p.m., the group will perform at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm Street, Camden. Free will offering will benefit the Shields Fund. For twenty-three years and counting, the Shields Fund has been working with local social service agencies to provide assistance to Knox County and Lincolnville residents in financial crises.
