The Oceanside cross country team hosted the season opener for cross country Friday, Aug. 31, with five other girls and boys teams.
Camden Hills Brittany Bowman won the girls race with a time of 19:38.75 followed by Oceanside's Abby Hersom who finished a little less then eight seconds later at 19:46.33.
For the Boys, Camden Hills Ben Trapani, with a burst of speed totally unexpected at the end had him finish the race with a time of 17:29.45, less then a second ahead of Mt. Ararat's Nathan Mackenzie with a time of 17:30.23.
Team scores for the girls were, 1, Camden Hills, 24; 2, Mt. Ararat, 43; 3, Boothbay, 65; 4, Medomak Valley, 108; and Oceanside and Lincoln Academy, did not score.
For the boys, 1, Mt. Ararat, 28; 2, Boothbay, 65; 3, Lincoln Academy, 74; 4, Camden Hills, 94; 5, Medomak Valley, 101; and Oceanside did not score.
