Joseph Brown, obituary
NORTH HAVEN — Joseph Elmer Brown, 71, died peacefully Oct. 4, 2013, at his home.
Born on North Haven Dec. 30, 1941, he was the son of the late Dalon H. and Mary Quinn Brown.
After graduating from North Haven High School he served in the United States Army. Eventually becoming the caretaker for Paul and Jennifer Cabot, he assisted their family for 30 years.
Joe enjoyed repairing old clocks, genealogy and helping people with various repairs, projects and advice at J.O. Brown's Boatyard.
He was a 50+-year member of the North Haven Grange and a charter member of the North Haven Historical Society, which was founded in 1975.
Predeceased by his parents; a brother, Benson Brown; and three sisters-in-law, Elsie R. Brown, Claire R. Brown and Patricia Brown; Joe is survived by his sister, Mary Ella Gove and her husband, Gene of North Haven; his brothers, James S. Brown of North Haven and Charles Brown of Vasselboro; as well as several nieces and nephews and many more great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside celebration of his life will be held Friday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at Fuller Cemetery on North Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Haven Library for the Children’s Collection.
