ROCKLAND — Rockland police are asking the public for help in the investigation into an apparent assault Monday night, May 9.

At about 10 p.m. Rockland police were called to an apartment in the 600 block of Main Street (near the intersection of Rockland Street) for a third-party report of an assault, according to a news release.

Upon their arrival, they located blood and a knife outside an apartment. Police made contact with the resident of the apartment who reported being assaulted by several individuals. Ultimately, the resident was uncooperative with the investigation.

The wound to the victim was not a knife wound, police said.

Police said they have reason to believe the incident was targeted and likely drug-related.

Rockland Police are asking anyone with further information to contact Detective Anne Griffith at AGriffith@RocklandMaine.Gov or at (207) 594-0316 ext. 232.
