Several Midcoast field hockey players honored by Maine Field Hockey Association

AUGUSTA — The Maine Field Hockey Association is pleased to announce most of this year’s award recipients including those named to the organization’s all-state and all-academic teams.

Those named to the all-state team will be recognized at an awards banquet Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Augusta Civic Center at 1 p.m.

Criteria for selection to the all-state team includes: performs consistently at a high skill level; possesses leadership on and off the field; exhibits excellent sportsmanship; and is dedicated to the game of field hockey. 

From Belfast, seniors Reagan Seekins (back), Grace Hall (forward) and Madison Shorey (goalie) were all named to the MFHA all-state team. 

Those three were also named to the MFHA all-academic team. 

Also named to the all-academic team from the Midcoast included Camden Hills players Gail Curtis, Anna Jordan and Charlotte Hood; and Mount View players Cassondra Heath and Cali Warren. 

As previously announced, Shorey is one of three finalists for the Miss Maine Field Hockey award. The other finalists are Samantha McGrath of Kennebunk and Sage Works of York. The winner will be announced at the Dec. 5 banquet. 

The organization also recognized reporter Bill Stewart of the Kennebec Journal, Morning Sentinel and Times Record with the organization’s media award. 

Alison Nashawaty of Cheverus was bestowed the Steph Lunt 12th Player award.
