UPDATE: Belfast Police identify body recovered from water near city footbridge
BELFAST (10/26/2021) — The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the body as that of Joy Macdonald, the woman reported missing to the Belfast Police Department earlier this month.
Initial news release:
At approximately 2:50 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, employees at the Front Street Shipyard in Belfast called the Belfast Police reporting what they believed was a body in the water, by boats near the footbridge.
“Officers responded and found a body in the water at the location described by the employees,” according to the Belfast Police Dept. “The Maine State Police and Maine Medical Examiner’s Office were notified. The body was removed from the water and will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for Investigation and identification.
“It is undetermined at this time if this is related to the missing person reported to the Belfast Police Department earlier in the month.”
