Woods Walks with Coastal Mountains Land Trust

Thu, 09/02/2021 - 5:45pm

ROCKPORT — Join Coastal Mountains Land Trust for two guided walks in its Trails Challenge hiking series.

Walk #1: On Wednesday, September 8, from 12 - 2 p.m., CMLT will host Beyond the Beech Nut, Discovering the Ecosystems of Beech Hill. Participants will be exploring the unique ecosystems in the upper and lower fields that make Beech Hill Preserve a haven for birds, bees, and beyond.

This walk will have a focus on the ecological factors that shape land management and give the public the special opportunity to explore the secret and hidden treasures of Beech Hill.

Location: Beech Hill Preserve, 316 Beech Hill Rd, Rockport, ME 04856

Walk #2: Thursday, September 23, from 1 - 3:30 p.m. For this walk CMLT will discover the lesser-known trail from the Coastal Mountain’s Ducktrap Preserve trailhead on Route 52 to Tanglewood's extensive hiking system.

This walk is an out and back adventure and will be almost 4 miles round trip.

Participants are welcome to drop a car off at Tanglewood’s camp parking lot, if they want a shorter adventure.

Directions: From Lincolnville Center, go north on Rt. 52 for 3.5 miles. The trailhead is located on the left, about 100 yards after route 52 crosses the Ducktrap river.

Feel free to email info@coastalmountains.org for details about either of these walks.
