Woman accused of stabbing man with knife during altercation in Union
ROCKLAND — A Searsport woman remains in jail after she was arrested Dec. 31 for allegedly causing injuries to a man with a knife during an argument in Union.
Clare Malmstrom, 47, was charged by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
Malmstrom made her initial appearance Jan. 3 in the Knox County Court before Judge Sarah Gilbert, who set her bail at $1,000 cash.
According to the affidavit filed in court by the Knox County Sheriff’s deputies, they received a report of a domestic involving a knife. The male victim told police that Malmstrom had been drinking and during an argument she grabbed a knife.
Police reported that the victim had two small lacerations on both hands and declined medical attention.
Malmstrom also is accused of throwing a cooler through a window and stabbing a kitchen drawer, according to the affidavit.
Police located the woman after a neighbor where the alleged incident occurred reported she was in the woods on his property, according to court documents.
Malmstrom was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport before being transported to the Knox County Jail.
She will appear in court again March 23 for a dispositional conference.
