Event Date
Tuesday, April 21, 2026 - 12:00 pmJohn Fromer, Merryspring program director, will lead a walk to the vernal pool at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, April 21, at 12 p.m.
See and examine wood frog and spotted salamander eggs under hand lenses (supplied) or on an iPad connected to a microscope on site. Learn about the importance of vernal pools in their early development.
This is an all-weather event. Please wear good hiking shoes.
"It is a short walk to the vernal pool but it can be wet and there are tree roots on the trail," said Merryspring, in a news release.
Merryspring can provide a link to the live Google map to the vernal pool for attendees who would like to go early or who arrive late.
"Please note: The stone steps down to the vernal pool are steep and there is no hand rail," said Merryspring. "You will be able to see the pool from different angles and he will talk about the pool from the top of the stairs."
This talk is part of Merryspring’s Spring Talk series, generously sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel.
Please join Merryspring each week at noon through October for its Tuesday Talk series.
