The Lincolnville Central School, Hope Elementary School and Appleton Village School will be closed to students from March 16 until April 27, according to an announcement from school officials.

Below is a letter from Union 69 Superintendent Dianne Helprin:

    Dear School Community,

I know many of you have been anxious to hear what the plans for Hope Elementary, Appleton Village and Lincolnville Central Schools are going to be to help prevent and slow the spread of the virus. The regional superintendents of the midcoast met this morning along with a representative of the Maine CDC and the infectious disease center and most of us came to the conclusion that we need to close our schools until the end of April vacation (April 26). If things improve before that time, we will try to return sooner.

We will be sending out information later int he week regarding learning resources, the opportunity to pick up personal belongings and laptops and our plans going forward. Our buildings will remain open throughout the day during this time. The administration and staff will be meeting tomorrow, Monday, March 16, to determine next steps.

We will continue communication with parents throughout this window and encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher(s), the building principal or myself if you have any questions or any needs that we can help you with.

    Sincerely,
    Dianne Helprin
