UPDATE — Maine State Police reported Tuesday evening, Oct. 6, that the man they originally reported as detained in connection with a double homicide in Waldo is from Benton, not Lincolnville, as originally stated by the Maine Public Safety Office.

Maine State Police arrested a Benton man in connection with the deaths of his sister and her husband Oct. 5, according to a media report from State Police.

Glenn Brown, 64, was arrested around 7 p.m. after walking into the Belfast Police Department to report the shooting, which took the lives of Brown’s sister, Tina Bowden, 64, and her husband, Richard Bowden, 66. According to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, both Bowdens died as a result of gunshot wounds.

After Brown reported the shooting to Belfast Police, members of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Bowdens’ home on Bonne Terre Road in Waldo. Medical personnel also arrived and transported Richard Bowden to Waldo County General Hospital, where he died. Tina Bowden was found deceased at her residence, according to the report.

State Police Detectives and Evidence Response team members worked through the evening at the Bowden’s residence and conducted interviews. Detectives will continue their investigation throughout the week.

Glenn Brown will make his first appearance in Waldo County Superior court on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
