BELFAST — MidCoast Shakespeare Studio announces the cast of its upcoming summer production of Twelfth Night, set to entertain audiences with outdoor performances at Belfast City Park from July 25 through August 3 as part of the MidCoast Summer Shakespeare Festival.

"This ensemble brings together a dynamic mix of local talent and guest artists from across New England and beyond, continuing the Studio’s mission to create professional-level productions rooted in the heart of the Belfast community," said MidCoast Shakespeare Studio, in a news release.

Under the direction of Belfast resident Kat Alix-Gaudreau, the cast will engage in a collaborative process of staging, inviting actors to co-create the world of the play through improvisation, experimentation, and shared storytelling. This approach promises a fresh, energetic take on one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies — a tale of mistaken identity, gender-bending disguise, and joyful revelry.

“Twelfth Night is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays,” says Alix-Gaudreau who is also MCSS’s Artistic Director. “I’m so excited for the opportunity to direct this fantastic cast of actors. I think it’s the perfect show for our first production here in beautiful Belfast!”

The cast includes Belfast residents Elaine Grant as Maria and Roger Alix-Gaudreau as Sir Toby Belch. Local talent also includes Julianna Sundara, a Brooks resident, as Viola, and Katie Brayson, from Portland, as Oliva.

Performances will take place outdoors at Belfast City Park, providing a beautiful natural backdrop for the whimsical world of Illyria. Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and picnic fare to enjoy during an evening of theater under the summer sky.
