Thomaston seeks volunteers, donations for Fall Festival
The Thomaston Recreation Department and Thrive in Thomaston are gearing up for a new annual Fall Festival, set for Saturday, Oct. 25, from 12 - 8 p.m., on the lawn outside the Thomaston Municipal Building, 13 Valley Street. Organizers are calling on community members to pitch in as volunteers and donors to help bring the festival to life.
The festival will feature a full day of family-friendly fun. To make it all happen, the planning team is looking for volunteers both before and during the event.
Opportunities include distributing posters throughout the Midcoast ahead of the festival, assisting with set-up starting at 10 a.m., monitoring and running activity stations, or donning a costume to act in the haunted trail. Whether someone has an hour or the whole day, there are plenty of ways to be part of the celebration.
Donations and special talents are also welcome.
Organizers are specifically seeking:
- A face painter
- Tractor and trailer (and driver) for hayrides
- A cider press
- Small pumpkins and apples
- Straw or hay for scarecrow stuffing
- Wooden stakes, poles, old clothes, sacks or pillowcases, and other scarecrow-making materials
“This festival is a true community effort, and volunteers are at the heart of it,” said Kendray Rodriguez, Community & Economic Development Coordinator for the Town of Thomaston. “Whether you’re an individual, a family, a student looking for community service hours, or even a work team seeking a fun group activity, we’d love to have you join us.”
