Thomaston announces two new patrol officers, recognizes a steady presence

On Monday, March 23, 2026, the Thomaston Select Board confirmed the appointment of two new police officers. The Select Board then took a moment to recognize Officer Jarrod Leonardi for his continued dedication to Thomaston, stepping in to fill gaps in the schedule and supporting fellow officers, two of whom are new to Thomaston.
Officer Vasquez brings several years of law enforcement experience to the department, including service with the Kennebunkport Police Department as a Police Officer and School Resource Officer, and prior service with the Baltimore City Police Department. His background includes patrol operations, incident response, criminal and traffic investigations, crime scene processing, evidence collection, and community engagement. His experience working closely with students, school staff, parents, and community stakeholders reflects a strong commitment to public safety and community policing.
Officer Wood joins the department with extensive law enforcement and leadership experience. His career includes service with the Town of Kennebunk as a patrol officer, the Town of Dixfield as Patrol Sergeant and Interim Chief of Police, and the Town of Rangeley in community policing, school resource, and patrol roles. He also served in the United States Army as a Military Police Sergeant, Training Sergeant, and Squad Leader. In addition to his law enforcement service, Officer Wood’s experience as an owner/operator and commercial pilot reflects a longstanding record of professionalism, leadership, and public responsibility.
Police Chief Eric Quatrano presented an official commendation to Officer Jarrod Leonardi in recognition of his dedicated service to the Thomaston Police Department.
In his commendation, Chief Quatrano recognized Officer Leonardi’s outstanding performance, highlighting his dedication to the department, his willingness to take extra shifts during staffing shortages, and his continued support of fellow officers. Chief Quatrano also noted Officer Leonardi’s important role as one of the department’s main Field Training Officers, his work training new officers, and his service as a MARC Instructor helping the department stay current with training requirements.
Chief Quatrano further recognized Officer Leonardi as the department’s longest-tenured officer, noting his continued commitment to professional growth and his willingness to take on additional responsibilities in service to the department and the Town of Thomaston.
These appointments and recognitions reflect the Thomaston Police Department’s continued commitment to professionalism, training, service, and public safety.
