Thank you to Troy Howard Middle School’s P.O.W.E.R. Project
I would like to thank the students and their teachers from Troy Howard’s Eighth Grade Class for their beautiful and timely art work currently on display in the Kramer Gallery, at the Belfast Free Library. It is a terrific show and I am encouraging everyone who cares about creative expression that addresses the problems that our world is facing in a dynamic, original and hopeful way to see it!
I was astounded to see the articulate and talented work of these students, and the fact that 8th graders are addressing the same concerns I have, gave me great hope. As their write up about the P.O.W.E.R. Project states, their goal “is to show the ways we can find hope through all the struggles and problems our world faces and empower people to make a difference in our world today for the youth of tomorrow.”
They certainly have given me hope and the determination to do what I can. I really enjoyed this show! Truly, everyone who can should see it!
And thank you to our amazing library as well, always offering the community both beauty and public education — attend on June 17, 6 p.m., to see the film “The Librarians” and celebrate the library as an essential creative center in our community.
