Susan (Thorp) Sullivan, obituary
Susan (Thorp) Sullivan (formerly of Searsport) passed away August 30, 2025.
Susan lived a life filled with love, strength, and devotion. Born February 24, 1942 in Boston to James Stephen and Marion (Wilson) Thorp, she carried with her a warmth and compassion that shaped the lives of everyone she met.
She was the heart of her family, raising five children alongside her beloved husband, John J. Sullivan. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, resilience, and joy, despite the several cross country moves that life brought their way. Her devotion to family was matched only by the deep love she shared with Jack, a bond that remained unbroken even after his passing.
Susan was happiest when surrounded by her family. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Joseph and Alicia Diaz, Abigail and Claire Hotaling, Peyton Exner, and Sean and Colin Sullivan. She took pride in every milestone, big and small, and never missed a chance to cheer them on at school, on the field, or in life.
Her love of sports reflected her spirit: loyal, passionate, and joyful. From UConn women’s basketball to the PGA Tour, Susan never just watched the game, she lived it, with enthusiasm and heart.
Susan is survived by her children Brian (Christine) Sullivan, Kathleen (Michael) Sullivan, Christine (Albert) Diaz, Greg (Kristan) Sullivan, and Jeff Sullivan; her grandchildren; and her siblings Roberta McLeod and Stephen Thorp.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, and her sister Marjori Bernardo.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, her strength, and the way she made every house a home.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 16, from 12 - 2 p.m., at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd, Trumbull, Connecticut.
