South Thomaston church donation to Town aims to defray cost of new EMS requirement
At its regular Select Board meeting on June 23, the Town of South Thomaston was presented a check in the amount of $1,000 by People’s United Methodist Church, also of South Thomaston.
The grant was given specifically to benefit the residents of the Town, targeting the funds for use by the South Thomaston EMS in hopes it would help defray the drug inventory requirements resulting from recent Federal changes, according to the Town, in a news release. This change shifted the costs associated with on-board vehicle drug inventory records from the hospitals, to individual town emergency services.
In presenting this gift to the Town, Pastor Michael Leonard said: “Through this gift, People’s UMC expresses appreciation to the dedicated EMS personnel who faithfully serve our neighbors with compassion, skill, and care...reflecting our mission of sharing God’s love with acts of service.”
