Rockland Public Library celebrates Library Card Sign-Up Month and a card's endless opportunities
This September, Rockland Public Library invites the public to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover how a single card can open the door to endless opportunities.
"We're inviting everyone to discover, or re-discover, the incredible resources and opportunities available to you by signing up for a library card," said RPL, in a news release. "Rockland Public Library is a treasure trove of information, and more than just books. We offer a diverse range of programs open to the public, book clubs for adults and youth, children’s story times, author talks, musical performances, and more. While a library card is not needed for you to enjoy browsing, programs, and events, it is necessary for borrowing from our fantastic collection of physical books, items from the 'Library of Things' (including a telescope and thermal imaging camera), museum and park passes, and also thousands of audiobooks and e-books (and more) courtesy of Hoopla and the CloudLibrary."
Have you been curious about exploring a new hobby or learning a new language? The library has resources, including a weekly French club, Thursdays at 2 p.m. Do you need help on a project for school or have a tech question? Book one of the librarians to help out. Want to get out and about for a chat? Join the Wednesday Walkers weekly at 10:30 a.m. and get some exercise, enjoy the fresh air, and make some new friends.
Signing up for a library card in September automatically enters the person into a raffle to win a prize. If current cardholders bring in a friend to sign up for a new card, you’ll be entered in the raffle. Patrons with an expired card, come renew your account and you’ll also be entered in the raffle. Winners will be drawn at random on September 30.
"There’s truly something for everyone at the Rockland Public Library," said RPL. "Getting a library card is free, easy, and empowering. For students, it’s a key to academic success. For adults, it’s a gateway to lifelong learning. For everyone, it’s a smart way to stay connected to your community."
