Rockland art museums and galleries to celebrate First Friday Artwalk September 5














On Friday, September 5, beginning at 4 p.m., galleries and art museums throughout Rockland will celebrate the fifth First Friday Art Walk of the 2025 season. Below is a listing of some of the openings taking place throughout Rockland for this month’s event.

Art Space Gallery (405 Main Street) will be open from 4-7 p.m., showcasing works by Lara Max, Margaret Creighton, and Janalee Welch in its front room. Art Space is a Co-Op gallery featuring the works of 17 members.

The Farnsworth Art Museum (16 Museum Street) will open its doors free of charge from 5 to 7 p.m. Downeast Bartending will be pouring red wine and serving Laurel’s Dolce Vida mini cookies in the Library.
In addition to their many exhibitions on view, themes of change and transformation will take center stage in three short-film CIFF Documentaries selected by Points North Institute. Screenings at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. (Each screening is approximately 20 minutes long, followed by a 10-minute break)
Across the street at 365 Gallery, they will present: Animalia Draw-Off from 5–6 p.m.: Join Animalia exhibition illustrators Lucky Platt and Scott Nash for a lively drawing competition– with audience input!

Caldbeck Gallery (12 Elm Street) will be open from 5 to 7 p.m., with an artist's reception for both NOTES TO SELF: a solo show by Kathleen Florance, and WILD THING: a group show with work by Jana Benitez, Katherine Bradford, Eleanor Conover, Jarid del Dio, Lois Dodd, Grace Hager, Bernard Langlais, Denis Pinette, James Prosek, and David Wilson. All shows will open Friday, September 5th, and will run until October 18th.

Blue Raven Gallery(374 Main Street) will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. Explore a curated selection of contemporary artwork by established artists. We feature innovative pieces that reflect unique artistic voices and create emotional, visual, and intellectual impact. Discover art that transforms spaces and makes a house feel like a home.

CMCA (21 Winter Street) will be open from 4-7 p.m. with free admission to their current exhibitions, and live music by Anna Jones from 5-7 p.m. in the courtyard.
Anna Jones is a singer and guitarist from Rockport whose intimate solo performances blend folk and indie roots with timeless storytelling. With songs that drift through fairy glens and sea voyages, listeners are invited into a relaxing dreamscape of myth, legend, and fantasy.

Landing Gallery (409 Main Street) will be open from 5-7 p.m. with “MAINE LANDSCAPES: PERSONAL EXPRESSION” featuring over 40 new paintings in the exhibition by Russell Slocum, Liz Prescott, Christopher French, Michael Weymouth, Roberta Baumann, Bruce Busko & Bjorn Runquist. The exhibition continues through SEPTEMBER 14TH.
