Robert A. Collins, Jr., obituary
UNION — Robert A. Collins, Jr., 68, passed away unexpectedly in Appleton, Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Born in Rockland, July 23, 1956, he was the son of Robert, Sr. and Ramona Johnson Collins. Educated locally he was a 1974 graduate of Rockland District High School.
Bob held many jobs during his working years, retiring just two years ago from Aerus/Electrolux, after many years there. During his career Bob became known as an extremely talented vacuum repair man, and his friendly nature turned customers into friends quickly.
A man of many talents, he was an avid fisherman, and accomplished wood worker. Each year he made a coveted Adirondack chairs that was auctioned off at his beloved ‘Collins Family Reunion’.
He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Predeceased by his wife, Alice Beote Collins; the mother of his children, Jean Laverdiere; and two brothers, Timothy Collins and James Collins; Bob is survived by his children, Casey Collins of Portland, Becky Ortiz and her husband Roberto of Orland, Jamie Spaulding and his wife Juli of Norway; his grandson, Devin Collins and his partner Ian Steiger of Lewiston; Noah Collins of Portland, and Christine Ortiz of Orland; his sisters, Patricia Collins Vinal and her husband David of Warren, Sandra Clement of Union, Cheryl Cash and her husband Jeffrey of Owls Head; his brother Charles Collins of Tenants Harbor; his girlfriend who was very special to him, Cheryl Farley of Union; and a large extended family and too many friends to count.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
