Robert Arthur McMullen, obituary
Robert Arthur McMullen, fondly known as B.O.B. spelled backwards, passed away at his home in Georgia, December 17, 2024, in his 89th year. He was born September 18, 1935, to Margaret Goodman and William A. McMullen, in Toronto, Canada.
Bob attended Upper Canada College Prep and first year UCC Upper School in Toronto, Canada, before transferring to Ransom School in Coconut Grove, Florida. He then attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Bob became an American Citizen in Florida in 1961.
Bob was well known in the banking and retail industry for his leadership, warmth, and being an innovator. His career led him to First National Bank Miami, Florida, Jordan Marsh, Florida, Robinson’s of Florida, and Sibley’s of New York, and MBNA, Camden, Maine. He believed in people and recognized their strengths and talents, and encouraged and guided them to succeed.
Bob had a passion for adventure and the outdoors. He derived so much joy from teaching his children, then grandchildren the joy of fishing, boating, and waterskiing, and snow skiing. Also, he was a skilled tennis player, and BIG college football, NFL, and hockey fan! His happiest years were living in Camden, Maine for over 17 years. He cherished returning to Maine often, while living in Georgia near his family. His grandchildren considered Maine their second home.
He is survived by his loving wife Ellen of 42 years, his children Bob (Jocelyn) McMullen, Jeanne (Mark) Muhlenberg, Bill (Laura) McMullen, and Evalyn (Floyd) Badsky.
He will be missed by his eight grandchildren: Jessica, Bryce, Megan, Mika, Bret, Kelly, Matthew, Emily, and four great grandchildren: Clayton, Lucas, Ethan, Wells and Royal.
He will be fondly remembered by his brothers, Ross McMullen and Doug (Lorraine) McMullen and families.
We hold you in our hearts, for we have shared God's blessings.
Bob and Ellen would like to acknowledge the amazing, kind, loving hospice nurses, social workers, and volunteers of Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC). Especially Juanita, Angela, Allyson, Donna, Brad, and volunteers Tom Reichart and Sue Gehrifch.
In lieu of flowers, please listen to the song “I hope you dance“ and dance whenever you can! Give each other huge hugs!
A Celebration of Life will be held September 6, at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church in Camden, Maine.
