BOILING SPRINGS, South Carolina — Patricia Anne Hyland, 79, formerly of Owls Head, Maine, went home to be with the Lord, October 12, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Born June 2, 1942, in Camden, Maine, she was the daughter of John G. and Rita R. Richards Treneer. Educated in local schools, she was a member of Rockland High School’s Class of 1961. In 1977, Patty earned her high school diploma with great pride.

August 5, 1961, Patty married the “Love of her life,” George B. Hyland. Patty was a wonderful support to George in his military career, work and parenting of their two sons.

Early in life, Patty discovered she had a passion for crafting and teaching decorative painting. She managed a ceramic shop on the island of Guam for three years and enjoyed teaching classes to others. Eventually at the age
of 60, that led her to achieve her lifetime dream of opening her own craft store, Treasures from the Heart.

Some of the greatest highlights of her life included, being a Sunday School teacher to both the young and adults at First Baptist Church, Goose Creek, South Carolina and serving as a greeter to welcome guest with hugs. She always said, “arms were made to give hugs.” Patty’s life was driven by her love for Christ. Patty’s warm, loving, accepting and caring personality made the words “to know her was to love her” true in her life. No matter whom she came across, they became her best friend like she had known them “foreva” as she liked to say. She touched everyone she met by her kind and gentle spirit always willing to listen to them no matter what their problem was.

At the top of her accomplishments was the commitment and unconditional love for her two sons, David and Michael. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and prayed daily for their future.

Patty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, George, March 28, 2020.

She is survived by her siblings, Bobby Oxton and his wife Judy, Sharon Lombardo and her husband Jimmy, Tina Carmichael and her husband David, and John Thomas Treneer; two sons, David G.
