ROCKLAND — Pamela J. “Kim” Lafone, 65, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born in Alabaman, she grew up in Pennsylvania. A woman consumed by wanderlust, Kim spent her younger years traveling with a carnival, spent many years as a truck driver, rode a Triumph Motorcycle and at one point, co-owned a vegetarian restaurant in San Francisco.

She moved to Rockland just 8 years ago, and made many close friends in her neighborhood. She was witty and quick with a joke, and loved to cook. Her close friend, Kris, remembered when they had dinner together, Kim always made the main course because she was such a great cook! Even though she could be opinionated and stubborn, Kim was kind hearted and always looking out for others.

She spent countless hours volunteering at AIO Food Pantry and assisted with the St. Peter’s Soup Kitchen for many years.

Before moving to Maine, Kim was an accomplished lighting director in the music and entertainment field. In charge of the lighting for many big name music shows in both the US and Europe. She was also able to put her skills to use when she moved to Rockland, helping with the Rockland Lobster Festival for several years. She also shared her love of music, especially jazz with her Kris, often introducing her to new groups, by asking “Alexa” to play their songs, and she always had a story about the band.

Kim will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Kim is survived by her good friends and neighbors, Kristen “Kris” Heller and her husband Rick, Sally McLellan, Ruth Benner and many others.

Friends are invited to visit Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. All are invited to continue celebrating Kim’s life at a reception at Kris’ home, 25 Clarendon Street, Rockland.
