OWLS HEAD – The weather could not have been more perfect and a lot of tops were down at the Owls Head Transportation Museum’s All American Cruise-in held over the long July fourth weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7.

What’s more American than muscle cars, classic cars, and hot rods, said Toby Stinson, director of the New England Auto Auction and special events at the OHTM.

“Our celebrated marquee today is the Chevrolet Corvette,” he said. “The museum had several Corvette clubs represented at the Cruise-in.”

They included the Acadia Region Corvette Club and Corvettes of Coastal Maine.

“We also had corvette clubs from New Hampshire and Massachusetts,” he said. “We also have representatives here from the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and its curator Derek Moore, who narrated a special line up we did of cCrvettes from 1954 up through 2014.”

Though the iconic Corvettes were the featured automobile, any car was welcome to drive in and be put on exhibit. Classics lined the lanes, the crowds never diminished and exhibitors rolled in and out of the museum lot.

Museum-goers were treated to rides in hot rods and classic automobiles by museum staff.

Classic airplanes were on display. And biplane rides were popular all day long.

It was a good weekend for car enthusiasts to cruise, peruse and talk shop.
