VINALHAVEN — The Vinalhaven School has amended its educational plans for the upcoming week amid the county’s yellow designation under the Maine Department of Education’s COVID-19 health advisory system.
Students will not have school on Monday, Nov. 9 or Tuesday, Nov. 10. Wednesday, Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day, a previously scheduled day off.
School staff will attend school Monday and Tuesday to make final preparations for the possibility of full remote instruction.
“If we need to move to full remote learning, teachers will have the technology and instructional plans to share with parents,” said Principal Dr. Monte Selby in a letter to parents.
As there are presently no confirmed cases on Vinalhaven, school will be held as normal Thursday, Nov. 12 and Friday, Nov. 13.
“As always, we will continue to communicate with the Maine CDC, the Department of Education, and our local Emergency Operations Committee,” said Dr. Selby. “Our top priority is to keep everyone safe while offering the best possible education to our students.”
