The New Hampshire Society of the Sons of the American Revolution are recognizing the work of NHSAR President Richard “Dick” Baynes, who designed and created a new sign for the General Henry Knox Burial Site in Thomaston, Maine. The sign was unveiled during the Annual Knox Birthday Celebration & Wreath Laying Ceremony on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The ceremony also commemorated the 250th Anniversary of the Noble Train of Artillery—Knox’s famed expedition that brought captured cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston in the winter of 1775–76.

Baynes worked in collaboration with Delores Allen, Executive Assistant of Knox Museum-Montpelier to produce a design that honors Knox’s legacy as a key figure in the Continental Army’s artillery corps. Using the Museum’s distinctive crossed cannon insignia, they selected an image that reflects Knox’s pivotal role as America’s first Chief of Artillery.

"From initial concept to finished product, Dick’s craftsmanship, attention to detail, and dedication to preserving Revolutionary War history are evident," said Allen.
