New classes, workshops at Waterfall Arts

    BELAST — Many classes and workshops are scheduled to begin in March at Waterfall Arts in Belfast. Some classes meet weekly while others are intensive one-day sessions. All classes are taught by accomplished and experienced local artists and teachers in a wide range of offerings for young and adult artists.

    For youth, the spring Wonders of Clay session starts Wednesday, March 27, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.m and meets weekly through May 22.

    The Young Artists Studio, a weekly drop-in art club, runs on Mondays, from 2 to 5 p.m.

    Participants of all ages are invited to join the weekly free Art Hive pop up studio, on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

    For adults and older teens, Waterfall Arts will offer several one-day classes in March, including Printmaking: Quick Cuts/Reduction Print Technique with Karin Otto on March 13, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Ceramics: Surface Design with Maggi Blue on March 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    A three-day Gilding class with Kris Engman will be held March 16-18, from 10 a.m. to 3pm.

    A multi-week Portrait Drawing in Charcoal class with Mike Fletcher starts on Saturday, March 16, running every Saturday through April 6, from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

    Finally, on Tuesday, March 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., Waterfall Arts will offer a free DIY Arts Enrichment workshop for those interested in facilitating art projects for young artists. Teachers, volunteers, administrators, librarians, youth group staff, scout leaders, and parents alike will benefit from this workshop offered by Waterfall Arts Youth and Family Outreach Coordinator, Bridget Matros, according to Waterfall Arts, in a news release.

    Participants will leave with easy activity ideas, dollar store materials lists, and the confidence to create their own youth art adventures.

    All classes have minimum and maximum enrollment thresholds, thus early registration is encouraged.

    Partial scholarships for are available. Members receive a 10 percent discount.
