Maynard Ames, obituary
Maynard Raymond Ames, 67, died Sept. 10, 2013, at Maine Medical Center. He was born July 26, 1946, in Rockland to Raymond Ames and Sylvia Post. He grew up in Spruce Head and graduated from Rockland High School.
Maynard worked as a truck driver, delivering lobsters for Coastal Fisheries and later Graffam Brothers to Boston, Mass., and Rhode Island. He enjoyed music, especially the guitar and drums. He loved to watch professional sports, and his favorite teams were the Red Sox, New England Patriots, Atlanta Braves and the New York Giants. He also enjoyed college sports.
Maynard was a kind and gentle man. He would never say a bad word about anyone.
He is predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Norman Ames.
He is survived by his sons, Ben Ames of Friendship and Jacob Ames and his wife, Jennie, of Rockland; and his daughter, Jenny Ames of Rockland. He is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Simmons and her husband, George, of Cushing; his nephews, Venson Simmons of Friendship and Doyle Simmons of Rockland; and a niece, Valerie Simmons of Cushing.
A graveside service will be held at Ocean View Cemetery in Spruce Head Monday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. David Ronco will officiate.
