MaineDOT to close Augusta's Memorial Bridge to westbound traffic March 3
AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be closing the Augusta Memorial Bridge to westbound traffic, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to perform a routine inspection of the bridge.
In a news release, MaineDOT provides the following suggestions for travel:
Drivers and pedestrians traveling westbound should follow detour signs.
Drivers traveling eastbound from Western Avenue will be able to cross the bridge. Pedestrians will be allowed on the North side of the bridge.
Drivers traveling westbound from Bangor Street/Cony Street towards the bridge should take State Street to Bridge Street in order to cross the Lower Kennebec River.
"The inspection is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if the weather or other unforeseen conditions does not allow for the inspection as scheduled," said MaineDOT.
