CAMDEN — The ongoing Maine Department of Transportation project in the Town of Camden will begin affecting downtown traffic again during the week of April 12. This work involves making sidewalk and draining improvements on Elm Street (Route 1).
The project area begins at Union Street and extends north approximately one-quarter of a mile, just past Bay View Street. The upcoming work will also affect Commercial Street (Route 1)
The DOT plans to maintain two-way traffic during as much of the construction period as possible.

The contract only allows a single-lane traffic pattern at the southern end of the project area.
“Because we will be working on underground drainage, on-street parking will be limited during this work,” the MDOT said, in a March 29 news release. “We thank residents, business owners, and members of the traveling public in advance for their patience and understanding while we make these important safety improvements.”
The contractor on this project is Ranger Construction, of Fairfield. The contract amount is $869,930. The estimated final completion date on this project is June 18.
